ANVISA Approves Measures To Lessen Medicine Shortage Impacts

News: The Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has approved a measure under which drug manufacturers will be expected to notify ANVISA a year in advance before withdrawing drugs from the market. The heath agency is taking all preventives in advance to reduce the impact of medicinal shortage on the population. A firm that decides to cease the production of a drug for any reason should still ensure a stable supply of the product for a period of one year. Reducing the manufacturing or import of a drug should also be notified at least 12 months in advance, the agency said.
