Authority To Award Highway Deal

News: The National Highway Authority of Pakistan will soon award a contract to convert Super Highway into a six-lane motorway based on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. The project is worth PKR6.3bn (USD63.27mn) and includes transforming the four-lane Super Highway into a six-lane Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway (M-9). The executive committee of the National Economic Council approved the conversion and issued directives to the national highway authority to undertake this project on a public-private partnership basis. Construction of the M-9 motorway is expected to be completed by 2017.
