China Mobile To Launch TD-LTE Service By End-October


News: Chinese mobile operator China Mobile is gearing up for its 4G launch, with plans to roll out its long-expected TD-LTE service in the southern Guangdong province by as early as end-October. Initially, the service will be available to China Mobile's customers in Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Four TD-LTE devices - of which two smartphones Samsung N7108D and the Huawei G716, and two MIFI routers provided by Huawei and ZTE - will be available with different 4G plans at the launch of the service.

BMI View: The launch will help enable China Mobile to c ater to the rising demand for advanced mobile broadband services in the country. BMI e stimates that there will be 385.1 mn 3G/4G subscribers in 2013 and expects the to tal to rise 99.5% by 2017 to 768.7 mn. During this period the 3G/4G mob ile penetration will rise from 31.5% to 48.9 %.
