Company Overview

Shell Oman Marketing provides services and sells a wide range of Shell automotive, aviation and marine products, including fuels, lubricants and greases. Shell Oman has 142 service station located in strategic locations around Oman. It also has 54 Select Stores. Shell Oman owns and operates Oman's only oil blending plant. Shell's 34% share of PDO gave it 200,000b/d of net oil output in 2011.

Strategy

The firm is still a committed investor in Oman, despite missing out on the Mukhaizna development. Shell believes its best strategy is to innovative and streamline its existing infrastructure, rather than embark on any more acquisitions. The firm is also sharing with PDO its cutting-edge EOR technology that increases extraction rates by steam reinjection, water flooding and miscible gas injection techniques.

Shell Oman Marketing and Sohar Industrial Port-based Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals (T) have signed a 10-year base oil storage deal. Under the deal, Shell will store lubricant raw materials, known as base oils, destined for its Mina al Fahal lubricant blending plant in Oman. The plant is capable of producing more than 60mn litres of different grades and types of lubricants. The deal was signed by Shell Oman Marketing Managing Director Adil bin Ismail al Raisi and T CEO Zeger Van Asch Van Wijck.
