Copaco Rolls-Out LTE Network


News: Paraguayan telecoms operator Copaco has rolled-out its LTE network in Paraguay. At present, Copaco's 4G service is accessible in the Asuncion capital area and surroundings, said Hugo Sosa, Copaco's commercial manager. A total of 109 radio bases have been deployed by the operator across Paraguay, including 89 in Asuncion, one in Pilar, five in Encarnacion and 14 in Ciudad del Este. Subscribers will be required to pay a monthly fee of PYG155,000 (US$37.6) for an unlimited mobile data plan as part of a promotional offer for the next three months. After the end of this offer, subscribers will pay on the basis of the selected tariff plan that includes the monthly mobile data traffic.

BMI View: The launch will enable Copaco to offer 4G services in Paraguay. BMI estimates there will be 401,600 3G/4G subscribers in 2013 and expects the total to rise 55.5% by 2017 to 624,700. During this period 3G/4G market penetration will rise from 5.5% to 7.2%.
