Country Faces Acute Shortage Of Medicines

News: Egypt is facing an acute shortage of medicines, which is reportedly endangering patients' lives, reports Al Ahram Weekly. Local medical workers and healthcare activists have started to express concerns at the increasingly alarming situation. The country is currently facing a paucity of close to 600 medications. Egyptians doctors are now unable to prescribe the correct medicine to patients after surgery, which often means that doctors have to prescribe expensive alternatives, according to a surgeon at Egypt's 6 October Public Hospital. The surgeon added that the situation has become worse over the last six months.
