Decline In Value Of Indian Rupee Threatens Wind Energy Sector

News: The decline in the value of the Indian rupee is threatening the growth of the country's wind energy sector, reports Renewable Energy World. The rupee has fallen by 17% against the American dollar so far in 2013. This has had a concomitant effect upon the US$1.6bn wind energy sector , which has seen increased finance and imports costs negate the impact of government subsidies. India intends to increase its renewable energy capacity to approximately 57GW by 2017. This would represent a doubling of the current capacity.
