Dr Pepper Snapple’s Net Sales Up 1% In Q313

News: US-based drinks company Dr Pepper Snapple Group's net sales grew 1% year-on-year to US$1.54bn in Q313 ended September 30. The company's net income increased to US$207mn during the period, compared with US$179mn in Q312. The rise has been attributed to a favourable product mix and pricing strategy, which was partly offset by a fall in volumes and higher discounts. However, the company has lowered its FY13 sales growth outlook, citing falling soda sales in the US as health-conscious consumers choose healthier beverages.

BMI View: Figures from Beverage Digest suggest that sales of carbonated soft drinks in the US are continuing to decline. The industry publication suggests that in volume terms, sales of carbonated soft drinks fell 1.0% in 2011 and a further 1.2% in 2012. Se veral industry sources indicate that the decline in sales has continued in 2013.
