Dubai Plans Power and Water Expansion Projects


News: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced three major expansion projects worth a total AED20bn (USD5.4bn) in UAE, in preparation for the Expo to be held in Dubai, in 2020. The first project to be built will be a 1,200MW clean coal plant costing AED13bn (USD3.5bn) in the Hyssian Complex. The coal plant is expected to be commissioned in Q220. The second project involves the capacity expansion of the M Station power and desalination plant near Jebel Ali, from 2,030MW to 2,630MW. The third project involves the capacity increase of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park, from 13MW to 113MW, costing AED1bn (USD270mn). The expanded solar project is expected to be commissioned by 2017.
