FAW’s Coega Plant To Start Production In July


News: Chinese automaker FAW plans to start truck production at its plant at the Coega Industrial Development Zone in South Africa in July, reports Engineering News. The 30,000m 2 production facility, which represents an investment of ZAR600mn (US$55.2mn), has the capacity to produce 5,000 trucks annually. The plant will cater to the African market. FAW said that the production facility had already created 280 jobs and that 500 more would be created in the future. Richard Leiter, executive director at FAW, said 'our focus in 2014 continues with increasing brand awareness in the freight carrier market, where models have been developed to cater specifically for logistics requirements. Our marketing efforts have been streamlined accordingly.'
