Foreign Tourists Increase By 24.5% In January-August
News:Cambodia registered a 24% y-o-y rise in tourist arrivals to 2.3 million in the first eight months of the year, compared with 1.9 million tourists in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism. Tourism officials expect that visitors from China could account for second largest share in the Cambodian tourism market in the future. In the reported period, Chinese tourists to Cambodia recorded a 31% y-o-y increase to 207,617 visitors, compared with 158,492 tourists in January-August 2011. Cambodia is aiming to receive one million Chinese tourists by 2015. However, Cambodia's Tourism Minister Thong Khon has showed concerns over insufficient tourism services, including good restaurants and supermarkets to cater to Chinese tourists.
