Government To Distribute 13.8mn DTV Sets


News: The Mexican government will distribute 13.8mn digital TV (DTV) sets free of charge over the next 15 months to comply with the analog switch-off date. Mexico's Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT) started distributing 138,000 21-inch sets in May to low-income households, with around 7.3mn sets in August and the rest in January and August 2015. SCT's plan will cover 44.3% of the country's 31.1mn households. Mexico's north-east border region households will get DTV sets in May, with the distribution to continue westward on the border region in August.
