Government To Establish Multipurpose Data Centre In Accra


News: The government of Ghana will set up a data centre in Accra to offer technological skills to unemployed youths in the capital, according to the Ministry of Communications Director for IT Enabled Services, Alhassan Umar. The government recently secured a US$3.8mn grant from the World Bank and the Rockefeller Foundation for supporting the establishment of the centre. The project, which is scheduled to complete in the next six months, will attract IT and IT enabled firms and provide them quality and reliable internet services, Umar said. Umar also urged the government to review its policy on ICT in order to include all sectors of the economy encompassing the private and public sectors.
