IFT Investigates Telecoms Monopoly


News: Mexican telecoms regulator, the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has opened an inquiry into possible monopolistic practices in the internet and TV services market in the country. The move by the regulator follows a complaint from the market, an announcement in Mexico's official journal stated. The name of the companies involved in the investigation was not disclosed. Besides ISPs, the IFT will investigate the domestic sale and distribution of broadcast content by pay-TV and internet firms. The government recently gave the IFT additional powers to examine dominance in the telecoms market.
