Israel Approves Construction Of Turkish Hospital


News: Israel's Minister of Defence, Moshe Ya'alon, approved the Turkish government's plans to complete the construction of the Turkish Palestinian Friendship hospital in the Gaza Strip. Construction work on the hospital, designed and funded by the Turkish government, started in 2011. The Israeli government has been asked to allow the entry of construction material, electrical equipment, telecommunications and water supply infrastructure into Gaza to recommence work on the hospital. The US$34mn hospital is expected to be completed by end-2014, subject to the availability of supplies. The hospital is being built on 100,000m 2 of land. The hospital will be jointly run by Palestinian and Turkish doctors once completed.
