Kalbe Farma Plans Expansion Before ASEAN Single Market Starts


News: Indonesian drugmaker Kalbe Farma plans to increase its presence in the Philippines and Vietnam before the implementation of a single market plan by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Jakarta Post has reported. The association aims to establish the ASEAN Economic Community to bring the 600mn people of its 10 member countries into a single market by 2015. Kalbe Farma has nearly IDR5trn (US$530mn) for funding the expansion plan, company director Vidjongtius said. It already exports Extra Joss and Diabetasol to the Phillipines and is likely to focus on selling prescribed oncology drugs in Vietnam, Vidjongtius said.
