Liepaja Port Registers 50.7% Rise In Cargo Turnover


News: Latvia's Port of Liepaja registered a 50.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in cargo turnover to 6.7mn tonnes in January-November, reports LETA, citing the Liepaja Special Economic Zone's public relations specialist, Liga Ratniece-Kadege. The port catered to 1,670 ships, while the number of passengers grew to 30,396 in January-October. The port also recorded a 36.1% y-o-y increase in cargo handling to 698,900 tonnes in October. Of the total cargo handled at the port in October, the share of bulk cargo amounted to 54%, while the share of liquid cargo and general cargo stood at 5% and 41% respectively.
