Marseilles Fos Port Registers 13% Rise In Container Throughput


News: The Port of Marseilles Fos in France registered a 13% year-on-year (y-o-y) rise in container throughput to 1.1mn twenty-foot equivalent units in 2012. The increase was mainly driven by a 16% jump in deep-sea volume. In the reported period, general cargo grew 11% y-o-y to 17.2mn metric tonnes, which comprised 12% y-o-y growth in container tonnage to 10.5mn metric tonnes. However, total cargo fell by 3% y-o-y to 85.8mn metric tonnes in 2012. Meanwhile, a port strategy plan will be outlined in 2013 for the period between 2014 and 2018.
