News: Japanese automaker Mazda Motor has started the assembly of its all-new Mazda3 at the AutoAlliance Thailand plant in the province of Rayong, reports Automotive World. Output at the facility is earmarked for the Thai market, where the vehicle went on sale recently. The Rayong facility is Mazda's third plant worldwide to make the all-new compact, alongside plants in the Japanese city of Hofu and the Mexican city of Salamanca. The automaker produced 12,661 previous generation Mazda3s from 2011 until January 2014 at its Rayong facility, which is also dedicated to manufacturing Mazda2 subcompacts and Mazda BT-50 pick-ups to cater to the Asia Pacific region. Mazda Motor Corporation President and CEO, Masamichi Kogai said: 'Thailand is the centre of our business in the ASEAN region and the start of production of the SKYACTIV-equipped Mazda3 indicates that our business has begun a new stage in this country.'
