Mercedes-Benz To Supply 400 Actros Trucks To Primafrio

News: Germany-based auto company Daimler has received a major order for its subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Trucks from Spain-based forwarding agent Primafrio, reports 4-traders. The Spanish company has ordered 400 Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks to modernise its fleet, which is specialised in the transportation of refrigerated goods. Mercedes-Benz said the 400 Actros trucks are equipped with environment-friendly Euro V technology. The vehicles will be handed over to Primafrio by January 2014. The semi-trailer tractors from Mercedes will make up over 50% of Primafrio's total fleet of nearly 750 vehicles.

BMI View: BMI maintains a bearish outlook on the German autos market, on the back of declines in both the domestic and European markets. Although we are less bearish on passenger car sales growth over the year, we still expect the segment to remain in contractionary territory. This weak domestic market, combined with ongoing declines in Germany's primary export markets, has informed our bearish production outlook.
