News In Brief: LNG Negotiations Advance with InterOil

News: Papua New Guinea's Minister for Petroleum and Energy William Duma has indicated that he is ready to help InterOil find an operator for its Gulf LNG project in the country, reports Platts. In October 2011, InterOil started a formal process to attract a suitable LNG operator for the project, which is based on its Elk-Antelope discoveries in Gulf province. There have been no major developments since and in June Duma warned InterOil that its project agreement with the government would be terminated if the commitment was not met. His stance now appears to be softening.
