Officials Consider Halting Gas To Prevent Shortfall

News: The Pakistani petroleum ministry is planning to halt gas supply to captive power plants, fertiliser firms and CNG stations from December 2013 to February 2014, reports Platts, citing a ministry official. The proposed move is aimed at reducing the gas shortfall during the peak winter months, the official said. A gas shortage of 0.55bn cubic metres per day is expected during the December-February period, the official added. The proposal is contingent on approval from the Economic Coordination Committee, which is scheduled to decide on the plan within a week.
