Pelindo I Unveils Belawan Port's Expansion Plan


News: Indonesia's state-owned shipping line PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo I) has revealed expansion plans for Belawan Port, reports Seatrade Asia Online. The expansion plan will require an investment worth IDR3trn (US$318m). In the first phase, a 700m-long jetty will be constructed at the Belawan International Container Terminal. Construction work at the terminal is scheduled to begin this year and is likely to be completed in 2015. Under the next phase, the jetty will be extended by an additional 950m, with an increase in capacity to 2mn twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) from 1.3mn TEUs annually.
