Pharmaceutical Import Bill Rises By 62%

News: Algerian imports of pharmaceutical products increased 62% year-on-year to US$212.3mn in January 2014, up from around US$131.0mn during the same period in 2013. The rise has been attributed to a 67% increase in the value of medicines imported into the country for human use and a 2.7% rise in imported veterinary medicinal products. This rise came despite a 2% drop in the quantity of pharmaceutical products imported during the year, from 2.35 tonnes in January 2013 to 2.30 tonnes in January 2014.
