Physical Inactivity Is Major Risk To Health, Says WHO Report
News: The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning against lack of exercise, stating that physical inactivity is the fourth risk factor for death in the world, resulting in a major risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. An Algerian Society for Nutrition (SAN) survey, conducted in 2013, revealed that about 13% of adolescents aged 10 to 17 years are overweight and 5% obese in the Algerian city of Oran. This has major health consequences when they reach adulthood. Meanwhile, the WHO has developed a global survey, Global Physical Activity Surveillance (GPAQ), to measure and monitor physical activity.
