Ports Restart Operations, But Strike Threat Looms

News: Most Chilean ports restarted operations on April 6 after an extended strike action by workers; however, the Port of San Antonio remained closed, reports Reuters. The unions have threatened to resume their strike if workers at San Antonio fail to reach a deal by April 9, according to Richard Orellana, head of the Angamos Port union. Meanwhile, sources in the mining industry have claimed that shipping operations will return to normal in weeks owing to congestion at the ports. The strike action is believed to have halted export of around 9,000 tonnes of copper per day.
