RBCT Could Reach Export Levels Of 70mn Tonnes

News: The Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) in South Africa could reach record export levels of around 70mn tonnes for 2013 if the coal exporters increase their sales volumes in Q413. It also depends on whether the country's rail transport company Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) continues to maintain the higher monthly rail volumes to the terminal, which has been observed since July. Coal stocks held at the RBCT had touched 5.5mn tonnes by end-September as TFR had delivered the coal faster than the terminal was exporting it. Another key variable is the state of the international coal market where low prices have curbed sales so far in 2013.
