Regulators Plan For Exchange Of Mobile Frequencies From July-August

News: Swiss watchdogs, the Federal Communications Commission (ComCom) and the Federal Office of Communications (Ofcom) are planning the exchange of mobile frequencies in the 900MHz and 1,800MHz band, which were reallocated through the spectrum auction in February 2012. Under the plan, Swiss wireless network operators Swisscom, Orange Switzerland and Sunrise will carry out the exchange of frequencies between July 21 and August 16, with the help from Ofcom. In February 2012, ComCom unified its spectrum licensing by selling all unused spectrum and the frequency allocations that were due for expiry in 2013 and 2016. As a result, all of the country's telecoms spectrum rights for the 800MHz, 900MHz, 1,800MHz, 2,100MHz and 2,600MHz bands will await renewal in 2028.
