Resource Nationalism Sees Chevron Lose Siak Rights

News: The Indonesian government will not extend its production sharing contract with Chevron Pacific Indonesia, a subsidiary of US oil company Chevron, as the operator of the Siak block in Sumatra. The country's Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik has ordered Indonesian oil and gas company Pertamina to acquire the block, according to a ministerial letter signed on November 27. Chevron Pacific has been asked to manage the block for six months or until a new contract is signed between Indonesian oil and gas regulator SKKMigas and Pertamina.
