R&M Steps Up MENA Expansion
Switzerland-based cabling solutions specialist Reichle & De-Massari (R&M) is expanding its operations across the Middle East in response to strong demand for copper and fibre cabling solutions. This development highlights our positive outlook for enterprise solutions in the region, as well as investments in next generation network deployments by telecoms service providers looking to take advantage of the growing demand for high-speed data services .

R&M's industry solutions include cabling systems for FTTH networks and modular cabling solutions for datacentre operations. The firm expanded into Bahrain in February following a better than expected performance by its Riyadh-based Saudi Arabia office, which opened in June 2012. The firm's regional footprint also includes operations in Turkey, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and the UAE. To meet the demand for its products, R&M has established a regional supply chain hub serving the Middle East, Turkey and Africa. The firm reported double-digit growth in the region during 2012, according to company officials.
R&M has won some notable contracts in the region in recent months. In February 2013, the firm won a contract to supply and install the network cabling infrastructure for Bank Audi Jordan's new head office in Amman. This followed the implementation of an end-to-end cabling solution at the Millennium Hotel Amman in January. In December 2012, R&M completed the implementation of a large-scale copper and fibre cabling infrastructure for HyperOne in Egypt and also introduced new datacentre solutions in the Saudi market.
BMI's recent research on the enterprise solutions market in MENA highlighted the growth potential of key services, including cloud computing and networking, owing to strong public expenditure and private investment ( see our online service, February 11 2012, 'Opportunities In The MENA Enterprise Solutions Market' and , February 12 , 'Key Services In The MENA Enterprise Solutions Market'). BMI forecasts the value of the IT services market in nine key markets in the region, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, to US$9bn in 2017, equivalent to a third of the total value of the IT market. The opportunities in the market are also spread over a wide range of sectors, include public organisations and government agencies, financial services, aviation and transportation, tourism and hospitality, and telecoms and media. R&M is well placed to advantage of these opportunities with its datacentre and cabling solutions but is set to face intense competition from other global solution providers looking to expand in the region.
