Russia Investigates Alleged Seizure Of Uzdunrobita
News: Russia's Interior Ministry initiated a criminal inquiry against Uzbek authorities after mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) filed an appeal claiming that the authorities unlawfully seized its Uzbek subsidiary Uzdunrobita. The ministry's investigative committee opened the case under Article 178 of the Criminal Code 'barring, restriction and elimination of competition'. MTS submitted the request to the ministry, prosecutor general's office and the Federal Antimonopoly Service. According to Russian police, the case was opened considering the fact that any damage allegedly caused by Uzbek authorities to MTS can be taken as indirect damage to the Russian Federation, according to Russian police.
