Seaport Terminal To Position Penang To Serve China, India
News: A studyÂ into the Malaysian Port of Penang has confirmed that the facilityÂ cannot compete with the three otherÂ major container ports in the Malacca Straits, reports Seatrade Asia Online. The announcementÂ was made byÂ Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman, theÂ director ofÂ Seaport Terminal, the company which won a bid to privatise the port. The Penang Port will now be positioned to serve eastern and western routesÂ to China and India respectively, Osman added. The company might also attempt toÂ upgrade the portÂ to compete withÂ Port Klang and Luang Prabang Port.
