Seaports Register 3.1% Fall In Cargo Throughput


News: Ukrainian seaports registered a 3.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) fall in cargo throughput, to 36.32mn tonnes, in January-March 2013, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. Transhipments of import cargo rose by 5.8% y-o-y to 4.31mn tonnes, while exports declined by 1%. The throughput of Ukraine's river ports reached 445,100 tonnes, down by 21.2% y-o-y. Transhipment of import cargo via river ports rose by 82.8% y-o-y to 60,700 tonnes, while export and inland freight traffic dropped 29.9% and 24.8% to 211,000 tonnes and 173,400 tonnes, respectively.
