Societies Collaborate To Fight Cardiovascular Disease
News: The Brazilian Society of Cardiology (BSC) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) have collaborated to tackle the rising incidence of cardiovascular diseases in Brazil. Members of the BSC and ESC delivered important cardiovascular messages at the 68th BSC Congress held in Rio de Janeiro from September 28 to October 1. Meanwhile, a new study by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro highlights the importance of cardiologists in the country. The study stated that poverty, poor fitness, low education levels and rising obesity rates are resulting in high annual death rates caused by cerebrovascular diseases in Rio de Janeiro. According to Dr. Regina Fonseca from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death in the region.
