TCP Starts Expansion Work


News: Terminal de Contêineres de Paranaguá (TCP), operator of the Brazilian Port of Paranaguá, has begun expansion works and operational improvements at its terminal at Paranaguá. The shareholders of TCP will invest BRL250mn (US$122.9mn) between 2011 and 2013. The investments comprise construction of a third berth with a US$140mn investment and capacity expansion to 1.5mn twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) from 1.2mn TEUs by 2013. TCP will also spend US$110mn on container handling equipment, including four super-post panamax cranes and six trastainers along with 12 trucks. The equipment will be delivered in 2013, although its supplier has not yet been confirmed.
