Telecoms Revenues Rise 8% in 2013


News: Kazakhstan's telecoms sector registered a 7.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) rise in revenues to KZT643.49bn (US$3.49bn) in 2013, according to the State Statistics Agency. Domestic long-distance (DLF) telephony revenues totalled KZT42.49bn (US$230mn), up 4.8% y-o-y and local telephony revenues rose 12.65% y-o-y to KZT51.25bn (US$278mn) in 2013. Internet revenues increased 29.7% y-o-y to KZT136.95bn (US$744mn), while mobile revenues declined by 0.45% y-o-y to KZT305.92bn (US$1.66bn). Mobile services accounted for 47.7% of the total sector's revenues, while internet revenues contributed 21.3%, local telephony revenues contributed 8% and DLD-telephony revenues added 6.6%. The mobile telephony subscriber base reached 29.68mn at the end of 2013.
