Vermont Signs GMO Food Labelling Law

News: Governor Peter Shumlin of the US state of Vermont has signed a law that requires foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMO) to be labelled as such. The state has become the first in the country to mandate GMO labelling. The new law will be effective from July 1 2016. It requires foods made entirely or partially with GMOs to be labelled to indicate the fact. The bill has also created a special fund to support the execution and administration of the labelling law.
