Workers Resume Operations At Ain Al-Sokhna Terminal

News: Operations at the Ain Al-Sokhna Terminal in the Egyptian Port of Sokhna have resumed. Reports claim that more than 2,700 port workers started a strike on October 12, which had affected the country's economy. The workers were demanding the reinstatement of eight co-workers who were fired for disciplinary reasons. The management's position has not changed and the workers opted to resume work, according to a spokesperson from UAE port operator DP World, which is the operator of the terminal.

BMI View: The Port of Sokhna, located on the Red Sea a short distance south of the Suez Canal, is Egypt's sixth-largest container terminal in terms of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) throughput.
