World Bank Approves US$85.3mn Loan For Water Project

News: The World Bank has entered into a US$85.3mn loan agreement with the Albanian government for upgrading and expanding the current water supply and sewerage network in the Durres region. Water transmission pipelines will be deployed to connect villages with the water supply system in the city and cut losses in the water distribution network. The Water Sector Investment Project will also back the sewer network's transfer capacity from the touristic beach area to the recently built Durres wastewater treatment plant. The project investments will almost double the water supply to Durres, meeting Durres water requirements through 2030, according to the World Bank's Southeast Europe Country Director Ellen Goldstein (water-technology.net).
